Door-to-Door Sales Tool 

Blackbird is a iPad app designed to help Hawx Smart Pest Control's door-to-door sales team sign up people in need of pest control for year-long pest control contracts. 

The Product

Blackbird is an app that aids in the process of signing clients up for Hawx Smart Pest Control. The app streamlines the sales process, provides a map function to create boundaries, and provides an informational customer list for salespeople to view and logs all the information each customer has given.

The Problem 

Hawx Smart Pest Control's door-to-door sales strategy, which exclusively offers year-long contracts, has resulted in customer confusion and frustration when they do not fully understand the commitment they are making. This has, in turn, led to negative feedback and reputational damage for the company. 

My Role

UX Designer - Blackbird - Hawx Smart Pest Control Sales App

As the UX Designer for Blackbird, the sales app designed for Hawx Smart Pest Control's door-to-door sales team, my role was to ensure that the app provided a seamless and intuitive user experience for both salespeople and homeowners. I worked closely with the development team to understand the app's technical requirements and limitations, and collaborated with stakeholders to define the app's key features and functionality.​​​​​​​​​

The Goal

By introducing an app that presents the contract in a clear and transparent manner, Hawx Smart Pest Control can provide customers with a more professional and trustworthy sign-up process. The app streamlines the sales process and eliminates ambiguity, ultimately improving customer satisfaction and the company's reputation.

Competitive Analysis Research

Door-to-door sales apps are becoming increasingly popular as businesses look for ways to streamline their sales processes and improve the customer experience. In this competitive analysis, we'll compare Blackbird to key players in the door-to-door sales app including their features, strengths, and weaknesses.

Personas

Two primary personas were developed based on the research conducted for the Blackbird app: the door-to-door salesperson and the potential customer. The salesperson persona, named Forest, is a 32-year-old college graduate who is motivated by meeting his sales quota and earning commissions. Forest has experience in sales and is comfortable with using technology to aid his sales process. The customer persona, named Bradly, is a 54-year-old homeowner who values transparency and honesty in his interactions with salespeople. Bradly is busy with work and family and wants a quick and easy pest control solution. These personas were used throughout the design process to ensure that the app met the needs and goals of both Forest and Bradly.

Design Approach

The design of Blackbird prioritizes simplicity, efficiency, and ease of use. The app features a clean and intuitive interface with large, easy-to-read text and clear calls-to-action. The color scheme and branding align with Hawx Smart Pest Control's existing visual identity, creating a cohesive and recognizable experience for users.

Contract Presentation

The app displays contract options and pricing in a clear and concise manner, with the ability to customize based on the homeowner's needs.

Reporting and analytics

The app provides real-time reporting and analytics on sales performance, contract status, and payment activity, allowing Hawx Smart Pest Control to track sales team performance and optimize their sales strategy.

Electronic signature

Once the homeowner agrees to the contract terms, the salesperson can capture their electronic signature directly within the app, eliminating the need for paper contracts.
